Well, the title says it all really. The BVT are recruiting.
But wait, who are these “BVT”? What do they do? Where are they from? How do I know if I’m interested in being recruited? What do I really need to join? Read on, and find out.
First of all, who are we?
BVT is short for Belgian Virtual Tigers. Starting back in 1999 as a group of flight sim enthusiasts, some friends organised themselves as a small virtual team. Small, because all the members lived in Belgium, but soon the squadron grew and became well-known internationally. The name is derived from the 31st Tiger Squadron, an F-16 squadron based at Kleine Brogel.
What do we do?
It all started with Microsoft’s Combat Flight Simulator 1, but later on, things evolved and we started flying civil aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 as well. Growing on through several flight simulators we are now mainly focusing on Falcon 4 BMS 4.32 (BMS in short), flying the F16. We try to fly together at least 2 times a week (Wednesday and Saturday evenings), to keep our skills up to a certain level. We try to simulate real life as close as possible, but our primary objective is mainly to have fun.
Where are we from?
Currently, we’re all Belgian, spread throughout the Flemish provinces. Is being Flemish a requirement? Not at all, but we do request a working knowledge of Dutch. Normal conversation between the team members is usually in Dutch, and parts of online briefings or missions may be.
Why is this text in English then?
That is, quite simply, because this invitation will be posted on several forums and some only allow English posts.
What do you need to join?
Not that much really. We try to simulate life as close as possible, but we’re only enthusiasts ourselves. As it’s our main flight simulator, a basic understanding of at least Falcon 4 BMS 4.32 is required, but we’ll do our best to help you get through our training and assessment runs.
Apart from that, we only require a positive attitude, the will to learn and a reasonable amount of activity.
Still not sure if you want to join us?
Come and visit us. This month, 31st of March to be precise, we’re opening our monthly LAN party to the public. This will be near Antwerpen, Belgium, and we’ll allow a few persons to follow us for an afternoon, while we fly a mission in BMS. That way, you’ll be able to get a look at the team: who we are in real life, what kind of missions we fly, how we fly them etc.
As we are still only a small group, and this is our first try at a so-called “Open LAN”, we are restricted in resources and can not accommodate a whole group unfortunately. As such, we will limit ourselves to 3 visitors. If you are interested, send me a PM, preferably with a short description of yourself and your flight sim experience, and I’ll get back to you with more information as soon as possible.
