The Council begins in 1793, with players taking the role of secret society member Louis de Richet after his invitation to a private island off the shores of England by the enigmatic Lord Mortimer. Joining him are a number of high profile guests, including Napoleon Bonaparte and President of the newly-formed United States of America, George Washington. The strange nature of this private reception goes beyond just the prestigious guests –Richet’s own mother has recently gone missing on the island, while each and every one of the colorful cast seems to have their own hidden agendas.

During confrontations, skills and limited resources can be used to gain the upper hand and achieve the desired outcome. Failing an encounter does not mean ‘game over’, and no action can be taken back. The consequences are permanent, and may result in persistent physical disfigurements or mental traits that help or hinder the rest of the player’s adventure.

This trailer gives insight from the development team into how the game combines massive choices between vastly different branching paths and RPG mechanics, offering a fresh vision of the narrative-adventure genre.

The complete season will include a total of five episodes, with new episodes releasing regularly in 2018.

Announcing The Council - Episode 2: Hide and Seek

Hide and Seek continues the story of Louis de Richet as he deals with the dramatic results of his actions in episode one, released to press and player acclaim earlier this year.

He must continue his investigation into the disappearance of his mother, Sarah, while dealing with the newly-arrived Spanish head of state, the finally-revealed Lord Mortimer, and the quickly-forming factions on the island.

Hide and Seek releases on May 17. Season Pass owners will receive a two-day headstart, with all of episode two being playable from May 15. Episode one, The Mad Ones, is required to run episode two.
