Van de makers van Paradise Killer.

Michi, a disgraced yakuza lieutenant, is exiled to a cursed town to turn a bankrupt mascot agency into a profitable enterprise. As he struggles in his new life, can he manage to make a successful business and unravel the conspiracy behind his exile? He’s helped by Assistant Manager Pinky, who happens to be a mascot herself.

Explore Michi’s new home of Kaso-Machi in his run-down (but upgradable!) truck. There’s plenty to discover in this forgotten Japanese town – new friends to make, collectibles to find (and destroy), other businesses to partner with and, most importantly, a variety of mascots to recruit.

You thought mascots were just fluffy, innocent brand ambassadors? Think again. The Mascots are all living, breathing, fully formed personalities, with dreams, fears, and the occasional breakdowns of their own- just like us! Whether it’s Trororo, a charming cat who’s a little too obsessed with "adult video" or sweet, silken To-Fu, who can’t stop sobbing, your job is to befriend, mentor, and (hopefully) get these mascots to finish their jobs without causing a major catastrophe.

Solve the mystery of your exile! Help a living finger work through her many anger issues! Turn Promise Mascot Agency into the best agency in Japan in this open-world narrative adventure!

Veel bekend volk trouwens, waaronder de enige echte Kazuma Kiryu, alsook de maker van Deadly Premonition en zelfs Shuhei Yoshida.

The last time I remember feeling so enamored with a location and script was while exploring Kamurocho in the early Yakuza games, and Promise Mascot Agency’s narrative hits similar notes with its back-and-forth ricocheting between grim, gritty topics and bursts of offbeat humor. Its rural, run-down town aesthetic differentiates it, but it still feels like a living environment where anything can happen.

In another Yakuza nod, voice-acting legend Takaya Kuroda – Kiryu Kazuma himself – provides Michi’s deep drawl. Even the dev seemed surprised at this one, with an announcement post exclaiming “This is bonkers! We got Takaya Kuroda, you know, Kiryu from Like a Dragon! We didn’t even dream to ask for him, he just turned up to the audition like that was a normal thing to do.”

Another clear influence is janky ‘definitely-not-Twin-Peaks-The-Game’ cult masterpiece Deadly Premonition, with its oddball characters and surreal charm. The game’s creator, SWERY, even features as another voice actor, among other industry legends such as Eri Saito, Shuhei Yoshida, and Ayano Shibuya.
