In all the hubub over the DVD release of Star Wars, I'm afraid to say there's a little bit of bad news. We've discovered what we believe is an audio defect on Episode IV - A New Hope.
During the attack on the Death Star at the end of the film, there's a critical trumpet fanfare that begins when the X-wings start diving towards the station, right after Red Leader says: "This is it!" The fanfare is still there, but it's been really dialed back in volume so that it's almost inaudible - it's almost completely buried in the surround mix. There are also a couple of other strange audio issues - reports of music being reversed in the surround channels and poor audio quality during one of Tarkin's lines ("You would prefer another target, a military target? Then name the system.").
We're waiting to hear back from Lucasfilm on this and we'll get back to as soon as we do.
