Take the role of Ronan O’Connor, a detective with a checkered past, whose life is brought to an untimely end by a brutal and relentless killer. Unable to move on and stuck in the limbo world of Dusk, he won’t find peace until he can bring his killer to justice from the afterlife.

Using his new-found supernatural abilities, Ronan is free to explore the town of Salem, Massachusetts, from his shadowy afterlife. Unable to communicate with the detectives on his case, Ronan must read the minds of the living, influencing their thoughts and actions. As part of his investigation, he must interrogate the ghosts of Salem’s past citizens to piece together the puzzle, while battling demonic spirits to save his soul and uncover the shocking truth about who is responsible for his death.

Murdered: Soul Suspect has just been named and revealed by Square-Enix. it’s coming to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 this year. We received a very cryptic email for the project along with some very odd images. The link in the email points to a teaser site and Twitter account.


We received three images along with the message ‘What is the hardest case to solve?’ Here they are cobbled together (thanks gingeas)

Square-Enix just sent VG247 an email to confirm the name of the game. Here’s what they said:

“Murdered: Soul Suspect is an exciting new game from Square Enix which challenges players to solve possibly the hardest case of all”

Now a web game for the title has gone live. the password is Ronan. (Thanks dex3108)

When entered, you can download the below in-game image and message:

O’Connor, male, mid- 30s, 170lbs, 5’ 11”

Detectives aren’t supposed to get bloody knuckles, but I’ve done a lot of things I wasn’t supposed to do. I lived through it all, the beat-downs, the back-stabbing, disrespect most people wouldn’t see in ten lifetimes and I never lost a fight… until now.

Is this the new Crystal Dynamics IP they teased last year?.

Murdered: Soul Suspect’s teaser site has been updated by Square-Enix. This time, the log-in is “salemmausa”, and the evidence is an MP3 with the sound of shattering glass and a “thump” at the end. If you look at Evidence A from last week, you see a man lying on the ground with glass shards around him. Sounds like he was pushed out a window. With the new log-on, it’s rather obvious that at least this scene takes place in Salem, Massachusetts. The Twitter account for the game has also posted a close up shot of the phone number we tried to figure out last week. Even if you reverse the number it does not give you a Salem area code, but one for Michigan. At this point, it’s up to Square Enix to reveal the game, or intrepid internet sleuths to figure it out.

In a statement sent to VG247 this afternoon, the publisher confirmed the an early 2014 release on the above formats, making no mention of a developer or next-gen consoles.
