The organisers of the Gumball 3000 Rally would like to clearly communicate with the German media that the event is NOT an illegal race. The format of the event is a parade drive between host cities throughout the 3000 mile route. If participants break any laws they are dissmissed from the event and suffer the consequences of whatever illegality they have committed.
The organisers of the event would also like to stress the fact that they have been working with the authorities in Berlin for the past 12 months to host the official reception of the event arriving in Berlin on Friday 4th May. Official permission has been granted to park the cars on display on 'Avenue 17th July' at the Brandenberg Gate.
It would appear that the German Authorities who issued the statement on Friday 27th April were not accurately informed of what the Gumball 3000 event is.
