ik verkies wel een staand gevecht, submissions en brazilian jui jitsu zijn nice maar geen lange periodes dan...

Het grootste verschil met (thai)boksen is dat een gevecht ook kan eindigen met een submission, dus eigenlijk een klem of wurging waardoor de ander verplicht wordt af te tikken. Dit zorgt voor een totaal andere dynamiek omdat er constant gevaar bestaat om tegen de grond gewerkt te worden en in een klem terecht te komen.
Naast het 'submission' deel mag ook geclincht worden, knieën en ellebogen mogen gebruikt worden, takedowns zijn toegestaan, dirty boxing, lowkicks, ...

MMA is een combinatie van verschillende gevechtsporten. Het zijn in feite de "gladiatoren van deze eeuw" vind ik persoonlijk.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

The skills were later modified to use less strength and to be more effective against larger opponents. Freestyle Wrestling

Karate

Name used to identify many Japanese and Okinawan martial arts. While known for powerful, linear techniques, many Karate styles also incorporate softer, circular techniques. Some of the popular styles of Karate are Kyokushinkai, Shotokan, Goju-Ryu, Shorin-Ryu, and Kenpo which was the first "Americanized" version of Karate.


Kickboxing

Sportive martial art combining boxing punches and martial arts kicks. Many different styles with different rules exist such as Muay Thai, Full Contact Karate, and Asian Rules Fighting.


Kung Fu

Tae Kwon Do

En HOE win je dan zo'n MMA wedstrijd?

1. Submission by:

• Physical tap out.
• Verbal tap out.

2. Technical knockout by the referee stopping the contest.
3. Decision via the scorecards, including:

• Unanimous decision [all judges pick the same fighter as the winner].
• Split decision [One judge picks one fighter, the other two judges pick the other fighter].
• Majority decision [two of three judges pick the same fighter as the winner].
• Draw, including:

* Unanimous draw.
* Majority draw.
* Split draw.

4. Technical decision.
5. Technical draw.
6. Disqualification.
7. Forfeit.
8. No contest.

Er was onlangs nog een docu over MMA op national geographic.

Ze deden er krachtmetingen met behulp van crash test dummies. Aan de hand daarvan konden ze een MMA-vechter vergelijken met een bokser, etc... Ook werden de technieken uitgelegd (zoals kinetic linking etc)
Kortom: de MMA won in 90 percent van de testen op de dummy van de verschillende sporttakken. Veel respect voor de techniek die ze beheersen, samen met hun kracht.

Voorbeeldje: bij een kick naar de borst van de dummy met het scheenbeen ging de borst 12 cm naar binnen... Een auto wordt al als erg onveilig gezien als je borst bij een crash +-6 cm wordt ingedrukt...

De filmkes in dezen thread zijn dan ook ni echt goeie voorbeelden van MMA.

Check es de sites van DrPepper, daar zul je wel wat beters zien.

UFC is een zalige sport! Moest er UFC op de tv te zien zijn zou ik hem misschien eindelijk weer beginnen aansteken, arm stuk technologie.

Ik ben ook wel bekend met UFC en de daarin gebruikte mma stijl.
Ik doe zelf geen mma maar een andere gevechtsport, maar heb veel respect voor mensen die mma beoefenen. Een vriend van mij doet mma.

Dat terzijde, zijn er ook sommigen onder jullie die 'The ultimate fighter' gevolgd hebben/volgen? Daarin worden 16 fighters in 1 huis gebracht, ze trainen samen en doen samen opdrachten en telkens moet er 1 iemand naar huis. Diegene die alles wint krijgt een contract om in de UFC the gaan vechten.

Yep ik heb alle seizoenen gezien, inclusief het laatste met Team Jackson vs Team Griffin. Waarbij in de finale die "paljas" van een CB Dollaway beweerde dat hij niet afgeklopt had. Wat een aansteller lol Al goe dat Amir Sadollah gewonnen had.

Vanavond is het Griffin vs Jackson in de UFC 86. Zal wel een goeie match worden hoop ik. Al vrees ik dat Jackson met Griffin de vloer gaat wegen.
