This type of bet has been very profitable for me in the Portuguese and the Greek Superleagues, and i will risk 4 units on it tonight, as it is very likely to occur in my opinion. The match chosen is Braga-Guimaraes and the bet chosen is Braga to win by exactly 1 goal.
Sporting Braga have finally fallen behind Benfica and it looks like their title chances are almost null now, as Benfica's form is amazing these days. Still, Braga can finish on 2nd spot where the road to the CL Group stage is ensured. For this, they will have to contain their main candidates for 2nd place, FC Porto, a team that has been rising its form lately and are hungry to get that spot so that they do not have to play a qualifier for the group stages. Porto also have a better h2h and a better goal difference, so these 5 points can easily become 3 and then 0, which would be a disaster. Therefore, Braga need to win these games to sustain the 5-point gap.
Braga at home have been killers this season, with a 11-1-0 record and a 20-3 GD. What one must notice here is that the majority of these wins have come by 1 goal, the ones coming by 2 goals difference having been against the bottom teams like Belenenses, Olhanense etc. Against opponents such as Guimaraes they have had problems and mainly tight wins were the results at the end of those games. Braga are coming off a 3-1 home win over Olhanense, after being 0-1 down very early in the game. If Olhanense had not received a red card, i bet that Braga would have won by 2-1 again.
Guimaraes are 5th in the standings, 2 points behind Sporting trying to fight for the Europa League spot. Their away record is 4-3-5 with a 8-13 GD. What is funny about them is that all their defeats were by a 2-goal margin, which would look bad for my bet, but if any team would score a goal and then control the game until the end, that team is Braga. Guimaraes lost their last away game 1-3 against Sporting Lisbon and another defeat looks to come here, but they will fight for their chance and not make it easy for the hosts.
I predict here a draw at half time, and after the 60th minute Braga to score a winner and keep the score frozen until the end. Good luck.
