Wie HD-2D zegt, zegt natuurlijk ook Team Asano. Aan dit team binnen Square Enix hebben we heel wat klassiekers te danken, maar ze zijn voornamelijk beroemd geworden met Octopath Traveler, een JRPG die deze opvallende stijl introduceerde. Intussen zijn er redelijk wat titels met deze stijl de revue gepasseerd, zoals Triangle Strategy en de remakes van Live A Live en de originele Dragon Quest-trilogie. Tot nu toe waren dit eigenlijk allemaal turn-based rollenspellen, maar voor hun nieuwste avontuur gooide dit team het alvast over een andere boeg. Tijd om kennis te maken met The Adventures...

Hoewel juni een rustige maand belooft te worden, zijn er heel wat gamers die uitkijken naar The Adventures of Elliot: The Millenium Tales. Deze nieuwe game van Square Enix verschijnt op 18 juni en belooft opnieuw een boeiende creatie te worden van Team Asano, het team dat ons wist te verbazen met hun unieke HD-2D-stijl in Octopath Traveler, Triangle Strategy en Live A Live. Nadat ik werd uitgenodigd in de kantoren van Square Enix voor de hands-on preview, kreeg ik onlangs ook de kans om enkele vragen te stellen aan Naofumi Matsushita, de producer van de game, die ons graag wat meer vertelt...

Square Enix' Team Asano heeft doorheen de jaren een heuse reputatie weten op te bouwen met ervaringen die stevig uit het nostalgische vaatje tappen. Aan hen hebben we ook de intussen geliefde HD-2D-stijl te danken, die ideaal bleek te zijn om klassiekers uit het gouden tijdperk van de Super Nintendo en de PlayStation opnieuw tot leven te brengen. Dit zorgde voor zowel nieuwe successen zoals de Octopath Traveler-reeks en Triangle Strategy, maar ook geweldige remakes zoals Live A Live, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake. Terwijl het team intussen naarstig aan het werk is...
